Never mind. I see site 10 is crap from the pics.

Yeah, forgot site 1O, it is on the water, no good trees in the site, have to move to the edge of the campsites limits to get a decent set of trees.
Same is pretty much true of 9.
2, 4, 7 and 8 are the good hanging sites.
After leaving Batsto this weekend, I thought I would reconnoiter Godfrey Bridge and Hawkins Bridge for trees suitable for hammocks. I got to Godfrey Bridge, but the rain was torrential and the roads were flooding.
I only surveyed a handful of sites, but the ones I looked at were mostly not hammock friendly. I didn't realize there were 30+ sites at Godfrey, so I gave up on Godfrey Bridge and headed towards Hawkins Bridge.
I tried to make it there, but there were huge puddles of water of unknown depth. After a couple of miles, I gave up and headed out.
Next time I'm down there, if the weather is good, I'll make a better effort to survey the sites.
Is Mullica river the only CG with a water pump/well? Some of my hiking partners are not down with NJ tea water!
From the Wharton State Forest website:
Primitive Campsites: Bodine Field, Hawkins Bridge, Batona, Mullica River and Goshen Pond have hand pumps for water and pit toilets. Buttonwood Hill and Lower Forge sites have no water. Mullica River and Lower Forge can only be accessed by hiking, canoeing or horseback; motor vehicles are not permitted. All other areas are accessible by motor vehicles.
So Lower Forge and Mullica are the two hike-in-only camp sites, and of those only Mullica has a pump. Other sites have pumps, but are drive-in (car accessible).
Awesome thread. If I wanted to kayak/hammock an overnight, or so, in Wharton what would u guys suggest.?
They got rivers down there. I've been wanting to do the Mullica River - Atsion to Batsto. Camp at Mullica River campsite.
Then there's the Batsto River - I think you can drop in at Hampton Furnace and float down to Batsto Village. Camp at Lower Forge.
I was thinking of canoeing the Batsto to Lower Forge on 3/29. Some HF members are hanging at Lower Forge. Join in on that thread if you wanna further discuss if you wanna plan something.

I'd need another body to help handle my Old Town 16'9" Discovery. It's a bit overkill for the Pine Barrens but it does have a 1500 lb. cargo capacity!
