Was thinking of doing this trip in the summer, when I can go during the week (less crowds, more bugs!) any ideas for taxis or shuttles to get back to my car? Or do any of you jersey devils know of good loop hikes in the Batona area??
That's a pretty stupid trip, if you ask me. I don't know of any shuttles, and taking a taxi 30 to 45 minutes back to your car sounds prohibitively expensive. The Batona Trail, however, does not have any loops so I usually do out-and-back trips. Batsto to Lower Forge, then coming back you can take the crossover at Quaker Bridge (blue line) to Mullica River trail (yellow) and head back to Batsto.

Add some mileage by starting at Buttonwood Hills rather than Batsto, then pick up your camping permit at Batsto.

Anyone in the know, know about Atsion specifically site 10? I will be down there with the family and I want to hang while they sleep pitifully on the ground.

If you were to want a group at Bass River I would suggest # 11, 12, 13, 62, 64, 65. Would give you pavilion, water, shower, over flow parking, path to lake and trees for all 24 people plus. Im hanging in site 12 now and tomorrow. Stop on out

    Mullica river camp

Sites 2,4 good for multiple hammocks. Site 3 was able to hang 2 under 1 tarp but was crowding site 4.

Had to test drive my sister's Jeep (tranny issues) and stopped by Goshen Pond, scouted around and took some pics.

16 is the best for hanging several hammocks and it is at the edge of the campground.
It is one of 2 drive in sites, the others you park in the lot.(very short walk)

15 is ok for 2 hammocks

After that, only a couple of sites would be hangable, and that is and so-so hang with your hammock being next to or actually over the fire ring.

Site 1 has a few trees but you'll have to be creative.

Site 2 is ok for 1 hammock, the 2nd would be hanging over some shrubs...likely tick infested shrubs.

    Site 3
A little iffy for even 1 hammock

    Site 4 - no

Site 5 - trees but you'd be in the bushes

Site 6 - nice and open tough to hang even one hammock

Site 7 - another over the fire hang

Site 8 - maybe 1 hammock, right along the fence
