Talking VIDEO & PICS - Completed BWDD Hex DIY Tarp 2.0

So after weeks of hammockforum research, a little CAD sketching, and lots of thread injecting, my very first DIY hammock tarp is completed!!!!

I don't have a weight, and when I get a little more time, I'll post dimensions.

I'm not sure how to embed the video, so a little help from a wiser member would be great.

    VIDEO

Here's a few pics on the build.

Making sure of the initial length

Sewing the ridgeline with a little help from the Playdoe crew

Setting up a template for the cat-cut

    Cat-cut completed

Bummer my chair broke....I mean GREAT! Look at all that heavy duty camo material

    Sewing the reinforcements

    And the side panel pullouts

    FINAL PRODUCT IN IT'S ELEMENT

Let me know what you guys and gal think....after all you helped me build it.

    Thanks!

That was the most elegant $7 we've ever spent. She's my little princess with her own flowery hammock.

Looks real nice. It's funny how different you look at things once you have a sewing machine.

Totally! I was cleaning the garage last weekend, and I caught myself cutting nylon webbing off of an old booster seat that was headed for the trash. You never know when you'll need to sew on a tie-out somewhere.

What I have to say is that you've got more guts than I do, tarp construction has too many potential pot holes to fall into for me. I really do like the end result, great job. Intellectually I know it can be done, and having camped with chickenwing one weekend and seeing tarps he has made and listening to his good instructions I have been tempted, but as of yet, fear prevails. I look forward to your next project, after this nothing should seem too hard.

    Wow! Thanks

The project as a whole can seem very daunting, but if you look at each step individually, it's not so bad. My advice is to build it as time allows, don't rush, and if you are tired of sewing on tie-out reinforcements, take a day or two off. The excitement will build again, and you can go at it refreshed.

Like I said in the video, I have a pretty cool tarp mod coming, but I have to order some shock cord first. I'm hoping it works out like my prototype did....

    Nicely done! Couple of questions:
Have you missed the catcut on the doors?
    What cordage did you use?
Any idea on total cost/weight/dimensions yet?

I tell you what... That tarp could be an inspiration to get the sewing machine back out. Thanks for posting.
