    Topquilt Edge Questions

I have a few questions on how to sew/finish the edges of a down filled top quilt using the baffle method. First after sewing the baffles to each of the top and bottom of the quilt what is a good method to sew the edges together that creates a nice finish? I've read about using a rolled hem on the edges but I'm not sure how to sew the two edges together?

Along with that how would I go about finishing off the baffles on the edges? Just sew them right into the hem there?

And finally what would is an adequate seam allowance for this? I'm planning to include a drawcord on the bottom for the footbox as well.

    Thanks for the help!

When I sewed my baffles in, I left them short 1.5" on each side, to leave room for a rolled hem, and calculated the width of my raw materials accordingly. I wanted a wide hem in order to sew omni-tape on it for the foot box. I then did a quick stitch on the raw edges of the material to seal them, and then rolled the hem and stitched it, with the roll going to the bottom. This sealed off the baffles w/o having a bunch of no-see-um rolled up in the hem.

Thanks for the info. I'm still a little confused about the baffle finishing. I understand the leaving it short so it never gets into the hem but where you you actually stitch it to to seal it? Is it either the top of bottom material of the quilt?

I didn't seal the ends of my baffles, just got them close... not sure how much it matters.
