Tarp and hammock and all other stuff sack stuff stays stuffed... Only thing that gets taken out is down, down items get stored in a pillow case where they are really compressed... Everything else stays in the sack either in the pack or in a big clear plastic container... I have a cheap shelving unit that my gear stays on or in... Although this time of year, just about everything stays in the pack, just food and water short of walking out the door...

Sterilite containters, the drawered type for small and med sized items and the larger tubs for insulation. A few 3M command hooks for hanging items like packs and most any corner of a room can become a gear closet.

This is pretty much exactly how I do it. I like to inspect everything before I go i.e. did I put my cooking pot back after I cleaned it, do I have enough toilet paper, fuel, did anything break, etc. and do I need certain items depending on the trip length/location. I only unpack my down. Tarp and hammock stay in stuff sacks, although I have started only using mesh skins for my tarp and stuffing it in the back pocket of my backpack.

I keep my pack loaded and ready to go. Only need to add my food bag and go.
Once things dry up, I keep most things in my pack, but during the wet seasons, it's pretty spread out and in different containers. I REALLY need to part with some things to simplify.
I have some large storage tubs with lids in the garage marked for various things: canoeing, fishing, hiking. I try to make it quick to grab one and go! But, all my good gear is multi-purpose, so it's it a perfect system.
Unfortunately I don't own a UQ or a TQ yet so I don't have any down items but the rest if my gear is loaded in the pack, I was really just curious as to if it was ok to leave it all compressed like that, thanks for your reply's, I love this forum the people here are always very helpful
Hang my quilts and bags... everything else goes in plastic bins with those silica moisture absorbing packets. And yup...keep my hammock and tarps in their stuff sacks.
