"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn." — John Muir
I figure-8 hank mine and they stay on the tarp. My tree straps go in the top pocket of my pack usually.
I use the wrap loosely around the hand technique. Then I take the last few inches and figure 8 it but I keep a finger in the top so it stay nice and neat. Pull a bight through the top loop, then take the last length through the bight. Pull tight and its not going anywhere. Very fast to open up and its not tangled.
For extra cordage, I bring a little sunglasses bag with spools used out of magnesium rods from firesteel.com. I've got one with 7/64" amsteel, bankline, a. sinew, and some snare/bailing wire. I also keep a bunch of hemp wrapped around my Hoodlum.
thats what i love about my hh hex fly the little pockets are genius!
These are some neat solutions.
I really like that tyvek!
I leave the lines on the tarp. NO wrapping or figure-8'ing, or looping or bags or nothing. I just flip the lines onto the tarp then roll up the tarp. Hardly ever tangles.
