Best tarp for a BIAS hammock?

We get asked about tarps a lot, particularly as they relate to longer hammocks. I'd love to create this as a reference thread to help current and future BIAS hammock owners. Will BIAS hammock owners out there tell us what their favorite tarps are for summer and winter and explain any necessary particulars?

We each have a few tarps, but we certainly don't have a lot of experience given how many options are out there.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Well, the Cadillac of tarps is the HG Cuben Fiber Winter Palace. It has doors, it has a 10 ft 10 inch ridgeline, and it provides ample coverage for any 11 ft. hammock. It's 8.5 ounces.

I estimate a 108" ridgeline, then add 5 inches to each end for the continuous loops. That gives me six inches of coverage on each end of the hammock. It's all good!

The Warbonnet Superfly is roughly the same dimensions, if you are looking at a cheaper alternative.

Toxaway. Not the CF Caddie, but maybe the Landrover.

Nice and roomy in porch. Can go right into the duff in storm.

+1 on the Toxaway. Works beautifully. Same price point as 12' Tadpole, I think.

Just got to use my Weight Weenie Micro for the first time with my Wilderness Logics Tadpole. Camped just off the Northvillle Placid Trail about 2 weeks ago... stayed nice and dry throughout a night long rain. Happy Trails, Bones

    Plus 1.

But I get paranoid about wind driven rain coming in the ends, so if I think its going to be a Coastal Texas frog choker I take my HH Hex with doors just to be on the safe side.

I suppose I should stop putting off making those Grizz beaks for the Toxaway----

I have been considering a big daddy tarp or possibly a tadpole tarp. Do I need to go with a 144" ridgeline tarp with hiker lite hammock?

I use my tadpole on almost all my trips and stay nice and dry. They are pretty reasonably priced and WL ships really quick.

The Superfly is probably one of the best all round tarps if you want 4 season coverage though. It cost a bit more and weighs twice what the tadpole does, but it's a sweet tarp.

    BIAS WW coverage

is fine with my ZPacks hex tarp (got the one with doors). Have not used in really cold conditions yet but fine down to freezing at the MAHHA.
