    Modular/Convertable UQ

Has anyone seen or tried to make a UG that had removable baffle tubes to customize temp index?

Thought here is the baffles would be lateral and you would have two or three sets of removable thermal tubes that could be mixed and matched to go from 0% to 40%+ simply by changing the tubes out. Might increase the weight 20% but to have one down suspension system to start with in summer at X price and then save money to spend on level 2 and 3 insulation as the year proceeds and temps go south. Or for different hiking/weather/user needs

I have scoured the net looking and do not have the seamstress skills to even try the DIY route. This could be a function patent idea.

Thought I would post here for thoughts or direction to a vendor with something close. Makes more sense than buying, setting up for correct fit and maintaining two or three UQ.

The first Yetis (weren't called that at the time) had removable layers of insulation (synthetic). For the absolutely weight-conscious people on a long hike, it kind of makes sense. I tested one along the AT and it was effective, but somewhat time consuming to make the change. In the end, I think it better to buy more underquilt than you need and simply vent it to deal with whatever temps you are dealing with at the time.

The concept of tubes may be better suited for easy change-out though. Neat idea. Might be time to learn to use a thread injector. It's OK, all the cool kids are doing it.
    Trust nobody!

    further thoughts

Not adverse to learning how to make fabric do funky things, but figured those that have fought the fight already may be already there.

Another advantage would be for cleaning the main support system with out having to launder the actual down material.

Maybe mixing in radial baffles for the kicker tubes would be one route. Or smaller offset tubes on the seams of the larger insulation tubes
