    Lightbulb Ridgerunner & Superfly

Right now I'm hanging in a hennessy hammock and also a ENO DN with a Kelty Noah 12' tarp. I'm thinking about buying the Ridgerunner and Superfly really soon. Would like some Pros and Cons on these products. I've heard that once you buy the Superfly you tend to never buy another tarp. Reason for the Ridgerunner is I like the idea of laying almost completely straight. Any tips, comments, dislikes, and such would be of great help. Don't want to waste my time and money since it would be $195 for the double layer Ridgerunner and $130 for the Superfly.

ridge runner is a 100% go
may want to consider the special tarp for it instead

I have a Ridge Runner and a Blackbird. I like the Ridge Runner so much I'm thinking of selling the Blackbird to buy a second Ridge Runner for my wife. I have the Cloud Burst tarp which has the panel pulls placed to match the spreader bars. Throw in the lynx UQ and it's a great combination.

I am (patiently) waiting for my RR to show up, and I have a new Kelty 12 waiting for it. I am planning on modding the Kelty to take external poles. Do you not think you can make yours work with the RR's spreader bars or do you just want to try the SF?

The CloudBurst has pullouts spaced to match the spreader bars of the RidgeRunner. The SuperFly will work too, so if you want doors for 4 sided protection, you can easily accommodate the RidgeRunner. Check out my post here to see some pics of the SF/RR combined. You can substitute lines to a hiking pole or stick for the tarp pole mod and achieve the same effect.

Well I might just go with the Cloudburst since it is lighter and I don't really have a use for doors since I don't really use my stuff in the winter. Do you really need an underquilt if you get the doublelayer one? I mean as far as I'm concerned you can just put a sleeping pad between the layers or something. Also is there any cons with the RR besides the weight?

You don't need a quilt if you use a pad, but it also depends on how cold you will be camping.

The RR is a little longer in the suspension than say the BlackBird, and is a little more tippy, but not to the point of being able to fall out.
