I don't think any of us thought to recommend Shug's videos because we were dealing with her announcement shock of being a girl on the forum for one, and for two, thinking she may be one of the only few.

So yea, if you haven't watched any of Shug's videos, you may want to do that.

    welcome to the madness.

Havelock is just a few miles from Otway. The Neusiok Trail is a great place to hang.

If you have some questions, PM me.

I know I know a women in a hammock forum how much weird could i be?
Ask my wife.....lots of female hangers on the forum and many of them attend the group hangs (and leave their husbands/boyfriends at home). We also get whole families attending the hangs.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

    Another Tar Heal. Welcome....

welcome from Mass. Not another female but I brought my wife into this crazy hobby.
I will also second going through the videos some of us here have starting with Shug to get a better understanding of what you can do and how you can do it. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions. We will be all willing to help if we can.

Welcome from another one of the many female tree dwellers here. Both myself and my wife enjoy life above ground. Have been hammock camping for the last 3yrs? My wife has a Double Nest and loves it. Actually put it up in the yard today and we both had naps in it. There is plenty of good advice here. It sounds as if you are near enough to several other hammock folks in your area. I would strongly encourage you to join one of the group hangs. It's a great way to see and try out gear. I can't say enough kind things about the folks here. Welcome and enjoy!
