    SilNylon in CA?

So obviously when I get my tarp I'm going for the Sil, because the cuben fiber is just too far beyond my price range and I really don't need to worry about saving an extra 8oz. But I've gone into different sporting goods stores and (no surprise here) no one in sport chalet or sports authority had even HEARD of SilNylon. What scared me was when I went into REI and experienced the same issues. Has anyone had these problems before when looking for equipment? I did find a SilNylon pack cover that the employees seemed to not even know existed, however I have only seen one, and only in one location.

I will end up getting the WB SF when I can, but I was wondering if other people had experienced something like this when they were tarp shopping? SilNylon seems to be the best known secret in the world of camping!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

Are you trying to be fabric or a ready made tarp? Most ready made tarps are going to be polyurethane coated or PU coated... That's what all the ENO tarps are... But if your making one just by regular nylon and silicon it yourself once you have finished...

I've ultimately decided on the WB SF when I save up the money, I was just wondering if anyone else ran into that problem and why it is so hard to find.

I dont like the selection at outdoor stores (never have seen sil at any of them) I like using the net to find all my stuff just as you are with the wb sf, you are making a great choice. I know there arnt any stores you can drive to and get the quality of that tarp

It's a shame! It would be cool if companies like OES and WB could manufacture on a big enough scale to stock places like REI and Bass Pro and Cabela's. Oh, and Moosejaw Mountaineering. I actually order most of my stuff from them. WAY better deals than REI.

Oh, Brute, here is the pack cover I saw: Siliconised Cordura cover with a SilNylon stuff-sack. http://www.rei.com/product/757909/se...ckcover-medium
