    Under quilt Question

Hello from Iowa! I recently purchased a Warbonnet 3-season Yeti under quilt and had great success on my last trip with it. There was just one slight issue I encountered and wanted to get ideas on how to solve. With my under quilt attached to my 11 foot hammock, the hammock lifts way up into the air and is stretched strait across the the two trees. I did lengthen the shock cord on the under quilt but still encounter the same problem. I usually pitch my tarp low and it is a slight pain to get into the hammock with the tarp pitched low. I guess what I am asking is that is there away around this problem or is this normal problem to encounter. This is my first under quilt and am still new to hammocks. Thanks!!!

The underquilt suspension should be pretty tight. My Yeti lifts up my hammock in the same manner as yours. The 11 foot hammock means the UQ suspension will be tighter than a 10 footer so lengthening it a little is OK but as I said, a good bit of tension should be there to allow a snug fit when in the hammock.

Throw your sleeping bag and some stuff in the hammock and it should come down a bit. Chunk out whatever after your all tucked in for the night. Pretty normal.

Remember when attaching the UQ that the unloaded hammock will look different with the UQ on as when your in the hammock.
As Shug has said, add stuff when attaching or better, someone else can be in the hammock while you attach the UQ so you can get a better idea of the finished product. Fine tune it while your in the hammy and remember, don't compress the UQ by making it too tight.

Shug's videos should be mandatory for all new hangers. A lot of questions can be answered just there alone. Then, our written responses will make a lot more sense. Thanks Shug. It's also nice to revisit them when I have questions.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
