    Hello from Hctits

I am a broke college student and I'm taking the summer off to work. my plan is to make everything for a full hammock setup before the end of the summer.

my friends are planning to camp in early august, so I hope to have everything made by then. I have been lurking for quite a while, read most of the key DIY stuff and lots of the videos and tutorials.

I'm planning on making everything cheaply and i'm not worried too much about weight. currently I hike with a small 2.5 man tent, so by comparison any hammock setup will be lighter.

hi and welcome to the madness!! look for the table cloth hammock thread. a cheap, but comfy way to hammock since weight is not an issue. for a cheap tarp i do like the equinox 8x10 ( i still own my original equinox tarp) just don't get the one with the grommets....

for insulation ccf pad works great, make an spe for it, so you wont suffer the clammy /sweat issue. also what type of temperature do you expect to use your hammock??

Hello, from your neighbor, a little further to the South.
I, too, like to make my hanging gear. If you don't want to make your own silnylon, order some silnylon for the tarp body and then make your own sealer for the seams.

Good luck, and hope to see you down here at the 4th Annual Florida Hang next January. A lot of hangers come from your North to attend. Yeah, it's that big.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

mostly 90+ degrees when I have free time to camp. so it will be a while before I will need an underquilt. I was thinking of just getting silnylon seconds. I don't care what colour.

I'm a very DIY handy person so there isn't any item I cant make for myself. January huh? so long as it doesn't interfere with classes that would be a great thing to do.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Next year will be Friday 17th - Monday 20th. Check out the planning and trip report threads. It's probably the largest hang in the U.S. Maybe even the world

everything worked flawlessly, I will be refining the setup as well as making snake skins and bags for everything.

I committed the cardinal sin by not even assembling everything even once before I was out in the woods, even to the point where I was making the tarp guy lines to length as I pitched it.

This was the camping trip that was originally supposed to be in August. It was pushed back to this weekend which worked out great for me.
