    First solo hang/first video ever

    On 5-10-13 I went for my first solo hang ever. Due to SHT trail conditions and previous plans following through, I ended up going to Lake Maria State Park. It's a pretty nice place for being only an hour away from me. The day was absolutely beautiful. I had a lovely time...untill the wind came. At 11:45 pm wind blew in and stayed all night long. Average speeds were 30mph with gusts up to 55mph. Wreaked havoc on my stakes, guy lines, and tarp. Needless to say, I did not sleep much. At least I was comfy in my hammock surrounded in downy goodness. I decided to make a short video to keep me busy. It's my first ever so be nice...

    When thro' the woods and forest glades I wander
    And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
    When I look down from lofty mountain gardeur,
    And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze...

    Looks like a good place to hang. Were you able to get down to the lake and get water or just wanting to get some leg time in going to the dock to get water? My lazy side is curious

    Awesome job on the video, by the way. It made a great trip report

    Looks like a good place to hang out. You might decide to experiment with a more weather resistant setup. ;-)
    YMMV

    Thanks for the effort and video! I have seen another video from that state park recently and it looks like a beautiful place to hang.

    Thanks so much. There was a path down to the water from my site, but it was too boggy for me to get to the water. Probably could have made a crude log bridge easy enough, but MY lazy side said walking was easier. The dock where I got water was less than 200 yard walk from my site, so not too bad.

    I really appreciate the praise. Don't expect too much from my channel...I don't get out as much as I'd like and I am just getting into this video thing. I will however, be attempting more when I can.

    Enjoyed that hike along! Thanks for sharing mate.

    Weather & setups.... you live and learn. And if you're comfy and having fun... well that's good enough for me...

    Nice job and I'm glad you enjoyed your first solo hang ever. We were hanging in Michigan over the weekend and ditto that on the wind. We got the same thing here and it made for a long and restless night too!
