Hey all
Been monitoring these forums for a few weeks and decided to join. I learned a lot about hammocks here. I thought you just went to REI bought a few hammock items and you were set. I was wrong. I met up with Gunner76 who showed me a different world and watched a few of Shugs videos (that is where I learned about the Wwwhhooppiiee Sslliinngg.
I am an avid hiker, cyclist, and jogger(slow). I was looking for a new way to sleep overnight without using a tent. (Being retired military you tend to hate tents). I tell you these hammocks are comfortable. I learned very quickly that you need insulation (Pad or UQ). I had a night in the backyard where I froze (lesson learned).
Even though I brought most of my hammock gear from REI. I have now realized lighter and better ways to go, so I am upgrading.
I am usually hiking the Falls Lake, NC area. Cycling on the Greenways or American Tobacco Trail. Jogging where ever.
My latest accomplishment has been the Neusiok Trail down in the Croatan National Forest, NC (21.5 miles long). That is where I first slept in a Hammock outside my backyard. It was very nice. My wife said I was out.
I definitely plan to attend some of these upcoming hangs, they look fun.
