Help with Tarp/Hammock setup during heavy rain

I seem to be having issues getting the right configuration for my tarp and hammock when in full rain protection mode (low tarp pitched close to hammock).

I have an 11 foot hammock and the Kelty Noah 9 (diamond).
I am running a single line ridgeline above the tarp that wraps around the tree to form the triangle.

I always have enough space but the problem occurs near the tree where my hammock suspension interferes with my tarp suspension.
I'm running tree straps to whoopies for my hammock.

I figure the tarp should warp around the tree below where my tree straps are but I cant seem to make it work.

That can always be a problem when pitching the tarp very close to your hammock. I think that is why a lot of people prefer a bigger tarp for really foul weather. It allows you to hang it higher, relative to the hammock, and still get good side coverage. Even with a smaller tarp, I have found that it is rarely necessary to bring the tarp super close. I went through the worst weather I can imagine last year in the bwca, with a tarp that wasn't quite clear of the suspension. I found that I just hung it up and dealt with it. It isn't really a big deal.

Help with Tarp/Hammock setup during heavy rain

Maybe a picture would help explain exactly what the problem is. From your description, it sounds like you have the hammock suspension inside the triangle formed by the tarp suspension. This is the correct way and shouldn't cause a problem.

I set up my tarp first and then the hammock. I usually then have to lower or raise one of them a few inches to fine tune it.

It's raining outside currently so I cant snap a pic, but I do have my hammock suspension running through the triangle created by the tarp.

It appears the triangle made is too small because my hammock suspension pushes into the corner of the triangle that is furthest from the tree.

Mine often do that. Hammock suspension pulls away from the tarp once you are in.

I noticed mine did this as well.
However, I have a mini biner clipped on my tarp suspension in order to secure the triangle and my whoopies got caught on the biner.
Any weight would have pulled the strands out of my amsteel

With a really low tarp set up, the suspension angle may need to be less than the ideal 30 degrees so as not to interfere with the tarp. This is where a structural ridgeline on the hammock is useful to keep your hammock sag consistent despite the lower suspension angle.

Tree spacing can be a trick at first. If you can try some differently spaced trees, it may shed some light on your dilemna. Typically, trees between 14 to 18 feet apart work best. That's for a 10 foot hammock w/ a 100" rl, and an 11' tarp.

Once the spacing of your trees grows, you'll need to adjust the attachment points of your hammock higher, and with that the suspension tends to interfer with the tarp rl.

As long as your hammock suspension doesnt snag onto the tarp rl, they can ride next to each without incident. It may hamper the sway of the hammock.

if I'm understanding you right, you're saying that the ridgeline of the tarp interferes with the suspension of your hammock? I'd slide your triangle apex over and out of the way. No rule that says it's gotta come straight off the tree.

    Thanks for the tips guys.
I'll need to try some differently spaced trees. This longer hammock is new to me so I have to tweak my setup
