I would be interested as well, but probably would not be able to make one before July.

Adirondacks are nice, but can be very crowded on some of the trails. Enough to bug me just about every time I go up there. Stinks because I want to finish my 46r status, but I always seem to finish my hikes annoyed up there.

Do some hiking on the Long Trail in the Green Mountains of VT. This area can't be beat in my opinion. I'm heading out for 3 days this weekend to do a section actually. Go to www.greenmountainclub.org for any info you might want. Or you could always shoot me a question, I know the trail pretty well

If you are up here in the beginning of June check out the NEHHA group hang. Only about 1-1/2hr drive. Other than that post up when you want to go hikin in the Northeast section and I am sure someone will chime in.

    Rock ON!

I grew up in the Albany area. I've climbed 20+ peaks in the High Peaks area and my profile pic is of me snow shoeing in Lake Placid this past winter. There are a ton of great places to hike there, too many to even describe.
The Adirondacks are great and Lake Placid is a historic and wonderful thing to see..
    The Catskills are great.
    The Berkshires are great.
The White mountains are a bit farther and worth the drive.
    The Green mountains are great.
I was in Schenectady this past weekend and wanted to do a fast paced exercise hike close to where my family lives so I Googled "hikes near Schenectady" and ended up doing a 7 mile loop at a place called Plotter Kill Preserve. It was beautiful

Good luck at GE, its an experience, so I've heard.. a few friends of mine have some war stories.

Do check out the catskills as well.. there are a number of trails that are worth the look. Devil's Path is a favorite of mine.. 22 miles long, people a lot healthier then I do it in a day... but there's a few really Ultimate hangs to be had on that trail if you know where to go.. waking up to a view that crosses 3 states can't be beat

Between the 'dacks, the green mountains of Vermont, and the White Mountains of NH, you'll be set for a while.

I'm 45 min west of Albany, I'd love to get into the dacks again at some point.

Yeah, definitely take advantage of the Adirondacks while you're up there.
I'm in KY, but my brother and nephews live in Syracuse - so I'm up there at least once a year camping/hiking/backpacking and sometimes canoeing.
I'm in no way an expert, but I have found a few cool spots, and I'm heading into the Moose River Plains Wilderness in mid-September, when it's cooler, less crowded, and there are no blackflies. My only worry will be getting shot by a bow-hunter who mistakes me for a bear, or getting mauled by a bear who mistakes me for a bowhunter. haha

There's a terrific forum with all sorts of great ADK-specific info and lots of helpful people with good advice and suggestions: ADK Forum

    Good luck and enjoy!
