Video overview of the Woodsman X DL made by UK Hammocks

Hi guys, Iīve made a video of my first time hanging my new Woodsman X DL. Itīs also my third night ever in a hammock, still trying out different setups of sleeping pads. The video is perhaps a bit longish but I also wanted to promote the use of hammocks by choosing a camp site that would be impossible to use a tent in and show it off a bit.

Any comments and feedback is welcome, especially those bits and pieces of equipment that I couldnīt figure out the english words for. Oh, I also hope itīs ok to post this kind of video in this forum, let me know if it should have been placed elsewhere.

Nice review. Sounds like you said you cut the pad in half? Not sure I understand your reasoning for that.

Thanks. The cutting in half test was to take one half, turn it 90 degrees and place that up under the back/shoulder area thus getting a broader coverage compared to the normal width of the pad. Imagine the two pieces forming the letter T. That shortens the combined length of the area that the pad covers and I think I noticed that my heels (not feet as I said in the video) felt a bit cold when I laid on my back and stretched out completely. This was due to the fact that the pad simply didnīt extend that far down in this configuration.

I tend to sleep on my side and my body position ends up a bit curled up compared to if you lie flat on your back. As I mentioned Iīm just starting with hammocks and do a bit of testing to figure out what works best for me. I think my next run will be with my Exped Synmat 7 LW (extra Long and Wide) and possibly putting the half-pad under the back. Carrying one half pad along with the Synmat doesnīt feel that bad since it also can double as something to sit on or have as a floor to stand on when changing clothes or taking of the shoes etc.

    Cheers!

Good review and nice looking hammock.
When the wife asks, I simply say "Shug made me do it".

Thank you. My next outing will probably be with my oldest son. Weīll try and get our IKEA hammock set up in bunk style. Hopefully itīll end up with his first night in a hammock.

I couldn't tell from the video, does the bugnet have extra material where it zips into the foot of area, or is it just a regular, symmetrical piece of fabric? Same goes for the hammock fabric I guess, I know the head side has an asym cut to it but what about the foot side?

I'll get back with some shots of that. To me everything looks symmetrical but I'll spread those areas out on the floor and see.

The hammock is not Asym. The bug net is cut to cover the footbox. You can still sleep feet left but it's just without the foot box on that side.. Hope this helps.
