    Nervous about this evening's experiment

It's about 7pm here in Western North Carolina.
And the temperature up at 3600 feet is around 17 degrees.

I've hung my hammock under my OES winter tarp out behind my studio.
My plan is to sleep out there tonight.

I've got my insulated air core mattress, my hudson river top quilt, and my custom pocket-quilts.

For sleeping, I'm planning to wear my midweight thermal underwear and midweight wool socks. Also a knit beanie and mountain hardwear glove liners.

For backup, I've got a heatsheet, a 1/8" GG pad, and a JRB gear hammock.

I'm thinking it could get as low as 10-12 degrees tonight.
And I'm a little nervous about it.

Worst case scenario though is that I can bug-out back into the shop and turn on the heater.

I figure I'll go get in the hammock between 8 and 9pm.
    Wish me luck.

You'll do fine with that gear. Good luck, though!

Sounds like you are good to go. Just eat well before hammock time and take a snack in with you for that 3:30 to 5:00AM chill time. PB&J cut in squares works well ...m-m-m-m-m-m-m. Boost that metabolism.
    Have fun!

RAW, "Bugging out" is not an option. But I think you are well prepared, and the thought of having a heater so close should warm your heart.

Just sitting in the studio without the heat on . . . I'm freakin' cold!

But I need to figure out what it's gonna take to get down to these temps in the hammock.

I'm kinda wishing I had the Capilene 4 baselayer stuff instead of this lame Capilene 3!

I bet you a brand new penny that your hammock is toasty, compared to your studio!

Wrap up in your top quilt until you are ready to retire to the hammock....

Your only problem is going to be getting out in the morning! You sound good-to-go with that set-up.

Hope y'all are right. Gonna head out there in about 30 minutes.
More incentive now, I just saw a mouse running around in my studio.
