Thanks for those kind words, oldgringo, STinGa, Jcavenagh, Redoleary, MT, BLUEFIN 774, sturgeon, and mrhealth.

nothermark: Regarding our dining tarp - it's the 8'x10' SilTarp2 by Integral Designs. It goes with us on all our outings - long or short.

c0wb0y hubs: I do count myself fortunate to have a life partner who loves the outdoors, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and canoeing as much as I do. Much as I enjoy the occasional solo trip, I love being able to share those times out in the bush with my mate.

Another useful Ontario tool is the LIO Make a map which custom makes topos and includes numerous trails.

Thanks Keg. I've been using the Make-a-Map tool for years now to find rural properties (we've been in the market) because there's an option within it for showing actual private boundaries and land parcels. I've never actually used it to print maps for navigation though. You can't have too many arrows in the quiver when it comes to finding secluded places for camping.

    Cheers,
    - Martin

Awesome trip report! Great way to start my day. You mentioned fishing, what kind of gear do you bring and what type of fish do you catch...or not catch?

Thank you Redpath. Regarding the fish in that lake, I was actually talking through my hat. I could see fish were feeding (and could see them breaking the surface), but they were too far off to determine what they were. There were also tons of tiny minnow-like fish at the shore, but they could have been anything. I won't know until I return with some tackle and a take-down rod.

    Hope this helps,
    - Martin

Great report Martyn, it has stirred some excitment in me as my four day jaunt into the Rockies is approaching swiftly. Thanks for the amazing pics too, trip reports are that much better with visual aid. Tell me, what's your Cheek Spreader latrine? If you can fill me in on the details before Thursday, I may be able to attempt one on my foray. Thanks.

    Sincerely...... SnideTripod
