    DIY uq?

Hey everyone this is my first time posting on the forms I decided to give it a try because I have a question about DIY under quilts.
So I'm about 5.8 ish and I am looking into making my own uq instead of the pad I have (I'm tiered of it slipping around when I turn over) so I guess my main question is how do I know how much down I would need to make say a 20 degree uq? I'm not set on long short or mid size uq ill do whatever you guys would think I would work best!

(The hammocks I make for my self and friends are about 5 feet wide buy 9 feet 8 inches long) thanks guys!

Welcome aboard. This topic has been discussed dozens of times, so poke around the DIY thread for a while...

Here's a calculator to help determine how much down, baffle size, etc.
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ilt+calculator

Though, when I did mine, I went with 5" wide (inside) 6"wide outer fabric, and 2" baffles. Peak loft is over 2.5". (I did a LOT of analysis, then found a thread by Dutch from a while ago... made me think and just go simple.

I'm a cold sleeper, so my quilt is good to below 30 for ME. There are a few threads on Loft vs. temp rating, but your best bet is to compare to one of the cottage manufacturer's here... they've been doing it for quite a while...

Leighlo rates her 2" loft UQ at 30-degrees, and her 3" loft UQ at 15 degrees...

    Hope this helps.
