Treat your clothes and gear, and the bugs won't bother you.

But yeah, your right about the excessive skeeters.....maybe all the rain we had. Since last year was so dry, all the ones that didnt hatch are now extra hungry.

Hell with it, I'm going! Worst case scenario I hang by the beach most of the time and see how they like a constant 20mph wind. And I'll try and make the June 7 hang by the way, via Kayak!!!

Last night I did a solo overnight at Manistee river trail. Skeeters and freaking ticks! That and something huge doing a cannonball into the river at 3:30 made for a short night. I did a short hike and had to use the skin so soft off with DEET two times. The skeeters stayed away after the second dousing, but I found a tick inside of my ultra-thin and super tight smart wool ankle high sock. I flicked him off before I realized what it was. At the higher points where the wind was blowing good the bugs were not an annoyance.

I retract my previous statement about Saugatuck Dunes being so-so... I went for a hike yesterday and it was insane. The mosquitoes were as thick as fog... but only back in the woods. It was too hot on the sand for them to be out on the beach. So I hiked the shoreline...

I hear you! I was on the Kalamazoo River yesterday, wasn't so bad. Off the water though, was another story . Seriously, I see them swarming just hanging around town and peoples houses. All the water we had in places that normally don't see standing water means its going to be a thick bug season.
