Yeah, how about some rough gps coordinates to give us late arrivals a sort of target to aim for. I don't need exact coordinates, but if you look at Nordshouse on google earth and put the cursor over the area where you think we're gonna hang, those coordinates would be close enough for me.
    Good luck,

    Location and itinerary

I have to defer this info to more seasoned dune visitors. I have never been here before....

    I'd personally like to know:
    1. Place to meet/park (GPS coordinates are best)
    2. What the hikes look like (car camping and day hikes or tear down and re set up camp)
    3. How much Scotch to bring

    Please reply Boudah/Stone/whomever........

Well. It all depends on the intent of the trip? Are we car camping? Then we should probably look into some spots up at that the Lake Michigan Rec Area

Or are we going rustic/backpacking... Park at W. Nurnburg rd. (A) and hike the 1.5ish miles in and set up camp at Nordhouse (B - 44.099082,-86.455793)?

There are several large sites right at the exit of the trail to the beach.

I would consider Friday night at point A and hike in to point B for Saturday night.
That's just me. I think the group can decide individually what they choose to do.

Do you know if it is self-reg at site A and/or B?

No camping at A... just a parking lot. I mean we could hike in a hundred yards and set up shop but It's seriously only like a 20-30minute hike in to B though. It's an easy hike in the dark...ha. I've done it a few times. I'm thinking about taking that Friday off too maybe head up Thursday... so I could set up markers and what not if necessary?

My expertise in the area is mainly south. Here are a bunch of camp sites. We've got a great spot at D - but it's hella picked over for fire wood.

Lots of spots right off the trail which goes along the tree line in the dune's tough between C and D

If I remember correctly F has a good set-up with a table that someone built out there. (might still be there)

I guess what I was thinking was setting up home at any of those locations for the weekend and either exploring via day hikes or just laying on the beach drinking.

P.S. I will also have Quincy, my puppy. She is good with other dogs if others bring theirs. She loves people and is very curious... so she may be a little annoying if your not a dog person.

+1 to Boudah, I've hiked back a number of times in the dark, it's pretty easy sailing.

"B" looks good for the rendezvous point (unless some of us meet in the parking lot). I plan on being there Friday at about 1pm.

Last question.....distance to any pit toilet? I have my 13 yo JP with me and he's kinda new to dropping em in the woods. Just a precaution.
