    just an idea.

Two different forums that differentiate people who do real ultralight backpacking vs. those who do short distance or car camping, especially when talking about gear and rigging. That way if you are getting into ultralight it would be easier to search and get tips for weight dropping your pack vs. ease of use gear that is heavier but makes life easier if you have a vehicle nearby for return trips to the campsite.

    Re: just an idea.

I would be against this as I think we all can gain from both sides of that coin... We all bring something different to the table, or backgrounds skill sets and familiarity with different tools of our trade and we all can help each other get a better hang because of this... Case in point zingit may not have ever been mentioned in the car camping forum because it's light and small... But I can't imagine a properly set up tarp with out it... I unknowingly used to use paracord for everything, now I know better...

But it is ultimately up to the moderators, but I think they will leave it as is...

I can see the benefit of this, but I doubt it'll be implemented. The primary focus of the forum is hammocks - not hammock camping (as it says in some places). Light, ultralight, or car camping scenarios don't really factor into the focus of the site.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

Yep, hammocks are the primary topic here. The nuances of backpacking belong in a backpacking forum that focuses on that.

For me, the best way to search this site is to go to Google search, type in your key words, add a space, then type this at the end of your search terms.

    site:hammockforums.net

Seems it works better than the built-in search here. Hope that helps!

I agree with Loki on searching using google--works much better.

I love reading every ones input on the subject of ultralight backpacking., but there are forums already dedicated to Ultralight Backpacking so I don't think it would really be needed. A thread about the subject with a hammock in the Roundtable off topic section or even the general hammock talk section would be welcome though.

I suggest getting the donating member status for $10, then post your question in the non-hammock section of the forum. Plenty of people there to help you out if you want it.

this forum wouldn't be nearly as effective, as it is now, if it were separated into different elitist forums

the information, being freely shared, is of great value to ¿¿¿ who knows ???

that is until that individual has a shot at reading about it, whatever IT happens to be...

i just erased a long dissertation listing my feelings...

    lets just say:

IT AINT BROKE & DON'T NEED FIXIN
