Which cord material do you use for the ridgeline?

    Hi,

I am just wondering which type of cord I should use for the ridgeline to attach the tarp. So what do you use?

And by the way which material is good for making a UCR for an extra ridgeline to dry things under the tarp if you donīt want to use the expensive Dyneema aka Amsteel?

if you get a 180' ball of ZING-IT/LASH-IT

    http://www.samsonrope.com/Pages/Prod...?ProductID=811

    from REDDEN MARINE

    http://www.reddenmarine.com/samson-r...-x-180-ft.html

the stuff averages about 16Ē/foot (as shipped to my door)

    THAT AINT EXPENSIVE!

you can achieve both, stated, goals & still have line left over, to finish the rest of your system, w/ class

i realize some folks are really pinching pennies, today, but the security of KNOWING your suspension system(s) are sound should ease the pain, of spending your hard earned $$$

just an old man's 2Ē worth

I use the 1.75mm Zingit for most things tarp related works well with dutch gear and most other tarp stuff on the market...

It looks like the OP is in Germany which complicates things slightly. I'm really not sure what options there are for small diameter cord (1.5-2mm) other than nylon and dyneema. The problem with nylon is that it will stretch on you, especially if you want to hang stuff on it. Also with the nylon, it will probably not be a hollow braid like the dyneema so you will not be able to make things like UCRs. My advise would be to look for dyneema in the 1.5-2mm range, make sure it's a hollow braid probably will be 8 strand. That size is used commonly in kite surfing and spear fishing. I can't guaranty it will be exactly what you're looking for, but it will be the cheapest and easiest to find.

Lash-it for sure, but you can get by with decent mason's line.

I like to use it for prototypes, and it often hangs around in my kit for a while until it gets replaced with something better.

Not as strong, stretches a bit, but so does the Sil, and might under the worst of circumstances wick a drip or two, but will do the trick in a pinch, and it will without fail break before a tarp rips.

Do you not get "streching" problems when it gets wet?
