    Amen to the Deluxe

I started with the standard HH fly and it wasn't long before I got the OES deluxe MacCat. It has greatly enhanced my system for camping. I now have room under it for a gear hammock, can set it up with my leki's for a great "out of rain" shelter, and not to mention the great coverage in a downpour. I stow it separately on the outside mesh of my pack for quick access. First thing up, last thing down! Also had Brian make me pockets in the corners for stowing my guylines. Check out Backpacking light.com for cool little guyline tensioners using aircore line. See my gallery for a pic of my setup.

I have a HH Explorer Deluxe (a longer hammock) and decided to get a longer MacCat to go with it - I talked with Brian and ordered a custom MacCat with a 160 inch ridge length - called the "Titan" - basically I wanted something to cover pack and stuff I hang from the support ropes of the hammock.

You really do have your own little cave there! I was impressed - here I thought MY tarp was huge!

I have a standard and do not like it. I wish I had never ordered it. It is to small. It sits in my closet collecting dust. I think it was a waist of money. Go for the big one.

First let me say to Black Bishop...I LOVE your site and would LOVE to amke my own but, as ahsamed as I am to say I am a woman with NO SEWING skills and MINIMUL cooking skills...I refuse to do so right now and would like to have the McCat as a backup before undertaking such a frustrating thing as to sew.

So I am a wuss when it comes to cold. I like to be toasty and I like to do things without having to be in my bed to do them...so I will go with the deluxe. Now to save money....

on another note: MY HAMMOCK CAME IN TODAY! So now I have to make a bug net...and get some straps...Its an ENO and I love it already...it is so thin but, strong....going to play with my hammock...(says its 18oz but, feels less...Ill weigh it and see)

Thanks guys for all the advice.

Are you saying he makes them to sell? Or you made on with his website guide?

No, I don't sell them. I've made a couple for friends, partly to help them out and partly to help hone my sewing skills. I also wanted more experience with them before writing up my directions, but couldn't afford to make a bunch of tarps just to have them sitting around my house
