    Stand advice needed please

Got a new job, and need to set up an apartment as a "home away from home". I would really like to just use my hammock, but need a stand since I can't drill walls. I only have my phone, so using the search function is a little difficult. I am short on time and can't DIY at the moment. Does anyone have a recommendation or suggestion for an "off the shelf" stand? Something I could purchase at a big box store or amazon/online.

I am a hefty hanger around the 275lb mark, and will be using a Grand Trunk double.

    Thanks in advance, Brian P.

What if you commissioned someone to build you a Turtledog stand? Materials, shipping, and labor would get you north of $100, but it would work better for camping hammocks that have to hang higher. With the right incentive, someone could build and ship one in a few hours.

Or maybe someone near you could build and deliver it, saving you some hefty shipping costs.

I looked at the turtledog and was concerned with overall length needed. With a 10 foot ridge line, I wonder how far it is from the furthest leg end to end? I will have to go ask in that thread.

    Thanks, Brian P.

Another possible option, if the Turtledog stand's footprint is too big: put together a plumbing pipe stand. Not off-the-shelf, but simple to build. I had all the lengths cut and threaded at Home Depot. Total cost (without wrenches) was $90.

Supplies (all 1 1/4" galvanized, threaded at both ends):
4 6' lengths (maybe as short as 5' since hopefully you won't need tarp inside And this will save you the cost of one 10' pipe)
    4 2' lengths
    2 Tees
    6 90* Elbows
    1 Union
Teflon tape (not necessary, but makes things easier, especial for disassembly)
    2 Pipe Wrenches
Plastic tarp to protect floor covering from oil when assembling

What are the dimensions of the space the stand will be in? Amazon has several that could fit your needs as does Ikea. I think Walmart even has a Hammock with a stand for sale in their camping section.

That's beautiful! Do you think it would work in PVC?

do you think you could break up the top pipe into sections for easier storage?

    Thanks! And great job!

At the Spring MAHHA, Papa Smurf was using and demoing some pipe stands for hammocks. Not sure who was manufacturing them but you could ask.

I don't know if this is what siski is referring to but here are some directions for a stand made from pipe.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. As for the room, its 10'x14'. I was looking to minimize footprint, and the pipe stand looks good. I was hoping to see if anyone had used one of the stands like lowes or Walmart has. I know they are not for our type of hammock, but that would probably be the easiest at the moment. Eventually once settled in I can do a nice DIY setup, but I will be moving in less than a week and need something I can buy and have delivered or pick up locally. My other option is to buy a new bed and frame. I think the hammock method is the better option financially since I will only be there 3 nights a week.

    Thanks again, Brian P.
