Haven't been to Jed Smith since I was a kid. May have to pull that one off in July....

You're a great photographer, thanks for sharing.

OOOHHH: Forgot to mention, that "scenic overlook" you mentioned and shot at the beginning is Hearst State Beach. Spent MANY hours there as a kid (we just called it "the cove") and there used to be a thriving charter fishing outfit off that pier (Virg's Landing, now exclusively out of Morro Bay) but a storm wrecked the pier and the rebuild didn't allow for the big charter boats.

Last bit of trivia: All the Hacienda set-pieces and many of the scenes from the Schwarzenegger stinker "Commando" were built / shot right there. If you watch THIS YouTube clip you can see the original pier in the background. I was there the day they blew up the set-pieces as my Dad was a lead Park Ranger there at the time.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, glad you had a good trip with your sis. Sorry for any thread drift!
Very cool! Thanks for that info

I can see the need for some LOOONG tree straps!
The bridge hammock suspension is a lot longer compared to a gathered end, so I made 14' woopie slings on each end. I figured because there would be "good" trees I would have to pass up because they are too close, it would be better to have the extra line to hang on trees farther apart when the need arises. Its a lot of extra line, but it dosen't bother me

Great Pics! My family goes to Cambria every summer, so I thought I recognized the Hearst Beach. Were did you stay in the stretch between San Simeon and Carmel?
