Andy here. Love camping, tired of hauling a truck load of stuff just to get out.
As the thread title says I'm not hanging yet. I'll be reading and asking questions to figure out what I want/need.

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.
-- Pierre Elliott Trudeau
Welcome
If you get a chance, look for a group hang in your area. I was in the same boat as you and wanted to see some of the hammocks before buying one. So I attended a group hang (brought my tent) and had a great time.
Now my wife thought I was off my rocker - you are going to camp with a bunch of strangers you met on the internet? Yep.
It turned out great.
my wife knows I crazy (of course she comes to the group hangs with me to make sure I don't have too much fun)Now my wife thought I was off my rocker
