    Video - Continuous Hammock Ridgeline

So without any research, I had the idea of using one piece of rope/cord from one tree to another and hanging my daughter's hammock from prusiks.

    Adjustable sag in seconds

    Super easy to setup

I may even try something like it for myself

    Here's a quick video demo

    Enjoy!

I can see your point. I would think though that you will find a distance that gives you the optimum lie and leave it there just like any other structural ridge line.
    YMMV

Always thought that would work, great job. You've made somebody happy!! Just curious what cordage would be necessary to suspend an adult.

My first thought would be amsteel, but it's pretty slick also, which would allow the prusiks to slide. Come to think of it, I've never made an amsteel continuous loop and used it as a prusik, so I'm not sure how it would hold.

You have to add a few extra turns in your knot to get it to bite but they will hold. Or at least mine did.

    Video - Continuous Hammock Ridgeline

I know it's a four letter word,,,, rope! If you use climbing rope or the like a amsteel soft shackle will hold. If you are like me and like more hold, tie a knot every 6 inches in your climbing rope. I tried this system but had to abandon it because bug nets and peapods are tricky to setup with the ridgeline so high. Now I'm thinking about using two ridgelines, the main one and a lighter one off the ends of the hammock for bug net. Great video!!!
    Carpe noctem!!
