    Tarp suspension

I am looking to put tree straps on my tarp. The rope that is used is puling apart from rubbing against trees. I also have a issue with having to hang 15ft apart because of the whoopie sling set up on the hammock. because of that I have been tying the tarp to the suspension of the hammock in some cases.

I really don't want to buy another whooping sling set just for the tarp though. so I need some recommendations.

    Thanks

    Tree straps?
    Nah

Some zing it or lash it, a couple of dutchware stingerz or tarp flyz and you are good to go.
    Everything you need right here

You could also put some rings into the system and tie off to those.

Not to mention those all in one suspension kits out there.
    Checkout http://www.whoopieslings.com/ for some ideas.

But tree straps? Better, easier, faster options are out there for you.

Budget option, mason line from the hardware store and some quality knot tying.

Look here first. I use continuous ridgeline above the tarp with toggle and figure 9 on a Superfly. 35' lash it 1.75. Works great for me.

I'm going with some mule tape for tarp tree straps. A tarp can exert the same force as sails that pull tons of ship through water. A thin line would be somewhat like a saw. In fact, in ancient times they would cut stone with sand-impregnated twine.

Whoopie slings don't work with tarps. Been there done that. No way you can get the proper tension on your tarp.

I really don't see the need for tree straps on the tarp. It's not a weight-bearing application so shouldn't hurt the tree, even in high winds. Sounds like you have some really crappy rope. I use Zing-it for tarp suspension and have never seen the slightest damage to the Zing-It or the tree.

Now if you're in Florida or one of those crazy places that are anti-hammock, tree straps on the tarp might make the authorities feel better.
