Memorial Day Weekend Trip Report Pics

I'm sure I'm not the only one who when out this weekend. Lets see your pics!
I intended to be out until monday, but after a few days of rain, and more to come, only for a day and a half of sun, on my only weekend off in awhile, I figured I call it a bit early. Took a few pictures while I was out, went to my old site I made where I spent a couple years. Nice to be back in my old place!

Great pics, looks like a fun time! I especially like your pot lid holder and your TV.

I got out today too and gave my new tree shelf a thorough workout - I'll follow up with pics when I get to a computer....

Not an overnite stay, I hiked in Shenandoah National Park to the summit of Fork Mtn looking for some historic survey benchmarks from 1874. This benchmark is from the original east cost "triangulation survey" authorized by Thomas Jefferson. The survey was needed to allow accurate coastal maps to be created, thus saving lives at sea.

The video is a mix of still pics and HD video and shows a few of the many trails, including the Appalachian Trail, in the central section of SNP. There are many places in the SNP "backcountry" you can hang!

    8 miles
    total ascent 2212 feet
summit of Fork Mtn is at 3850'

Memorial Day Weekend Trip Report Pics

I took my brother out for his first hang this Saturday, he made it until early morning before going back to his truck and turning the heat on, ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369713299.066522.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1369713327.364464.jpg[ATTACH]51120[/ATTACH
It was basically a car camping trip so I had the luxury of taking my big heavy sleeping bag so I slept snug as a bug all night and morning

GSMNP - Gregory Bald Loop - Memorial Day weekend pics

Here's a link to a photo album I posted today of our Nashville Backpacker Meetup group weekend trip to Gregory Bald in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I was a follower, not a leader, on this trip. We did short, easy days. I enjoyed it!

I have not yet added captions, but will do so shortly.

Look at that perfectly cooked steak! Not many people can do that on a grill let alone out in the woods.

    Well done sir!
