This is soooo much better than the raft I made, 6 barrels in a six-pack config with 2 sailors opposite ends.... center barrels were gear storage and cooler.

If this works, it opens up a whole new activity (soggy butt hangs, changing 4x4 supports to bamboo tripod stands on opposite corners (hmmm, savings of about 30 lbs?), mini grills using Dutch's Tarp Fly Grill, water soaked terry cloth beverage holders for convection cooling, the list goes on and on! Don't forget the Tenkara rig!
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I just found this thread and love the idea. Great pictures and your kids seem to love it. Float in style for us, man. I too look forward to the christening.

I would have spent an hour or to in front of a mirror practicing my "I didn't know that??" speech for the cops and had that sucker in the water weeks ago. (actually, I went back and checked dates. and weeks ago would be impossible. Make that on May 29)

    Great project!

Some of you internet experts are real wet blankets. But that's okay too.

Personally I think you've over-engineered it halfway. Seems that one hammock for a double barrel float would work just fine. For the four barrel version you have, strap the bbq pit and cooler in the center and mount a hammock on each side. The shades can always be hung over more the water. Great job so far and pics of it floating!

PS: I liked the other idea of turning a flatbed trailer into one of these too.
Tag with Home if your thread is more about home hammocks. Thanks!

Jeremy - We could have used one of these for a rest stop on Falls Lake!

    Regards,

    Regards,
I can see the benefit. Dawn just about had the idea already.

I also think that a tarp could be used as sail as well.
