    Uwharrie this weekend

Headed out Friday afternoon from RTP to do the 20 mile figure "8" combo of the Uwhuarrie & Dutchmans Creek trails.

    Company would be welcome!

    Uwharrie?

Curious on what you thought of trail and if would be a good trail to take my 7 year old out on his first overnight hang?

    Thanks

You could park at Yates Place and walk a few miles in and camp, or camp near Yates Place itself...just be sure to account for a water source or bring your own.
I wouldn't recommend the loop mentioned above - too long and hilly, in my opinion, for a 7 year old.

For a 7 yer old I'd recommend starting at the Rt 24/27 Trail Head. There are many sites with water in both directions. If you don't make it half way the 1st day you can return the way you came.

    Thanks for the input.

We have done some day hikes to different waterfalls and stuff but he has only slept in the hammock in the back yard thus far. We will be hitting the Uwhuarrie the 22nd and 23rd.
