Here is my wife's setup with a temp Pole mod. 20140118_175253.jpg

Just spent another night out in backyard gear test. Had SF with no-sew pole mod and WBBB. Winds were gusting to 20 mph, and tarp held up well. I had the walls below tie outs almost verticle and about 6 inches gap between ground and wall edge. Doors were closed.
While it got down to 22 with real feel about 11 and lots of ice and frozen rain on ground, no snow.
Anybody have the pole mod pitched in snow? Wondering how it holds up with snow accumulation on top, etc. are poles at risk for over-bending, kinking, etc. do you skip pole mod in snow altogether? Do you shift to less acute tie out or just go with it and knock off snow periodically? Not much opportunity to snow test in Louisisna...

Here's Fire-Fly and my setups with the pole mod....works great love how easy it is to have the pullouts deployed and also no lines to trip over!!!! Since we use a ridgeline on top I made the dogbones a few inches longer and it worked perfectly....the length of the dogbones are 10 inches total with 1/2 inch loop on the side for the pole and a 3/4 inch loop on the other end for the tarp pullout.

Thanks for the pics and info. (I was worried hat perhaps I plugged int this thread too late, so I also started a new one with same question.)
I like the longer length of your pull outs. I went the specs from an earlier pole mod, so mine are shorter and therefore tighter. I much make up some longer ones like your with some left over a steel that I have.
Have you had this up during a snow? If so, did you get much accumulation above the tie outs?

If I had read about this mod three weeks ago, I could have had it made up and ready for a hang the other night in the snow. We got a fair bit overnight, and I could have posted pics of it on my SF with this mod done. Oh well, I hear we are supposed to have bad weather right till the end of April here, so I have plenty of time to test in snow. If not, there is always next winter, which in Canada could come at the end of August. Thanks for this mod, and for all the others who have contributed.

Im thinking I'll do the same thing when i get a superfly. thanks for the idea!
I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it.
Excellent thread! These poles eliminate all the tripping over extra guylines when visitors come a knocking.
FYI in case QuestOutfitter's stock of 0.344 poles continues to run low and you have difficulty finding them from others as many of us have. Occasionally these and other poles can be found for cheap on fleabay and HF members post the sales details (thanks i benefited from it). Also i dumpster dived after a strong tropical storm on the coast and found many great poles that frustrated tent campers had discarded. Similar experience in mountain areas or any campground after strong winds LOL.
Locked Brummel (dogbone) thread was also great! Many on YT but this was one of best i have seen without all that moving picture nonsense. I like it!
Received a large order from Quest but it was missing 1 no insert nano lite pole, guess i upset them with this one odd item or they are clean out of stock! Nice people just a small outfit.
Unfortunately, Quest Outfitters and Tent Pole Technologies are in the USA. I really don't want to pay fourteen to twenty dollars in shipping, and then exchange on top of that. My bill was coming out to way more than I am willing to pay, and I believe that I can find the stuff cheaper here in Edmonton Canada. If anyone up here knows of a Canadian supplier for tent poles let me know. I will keep you guys posted as to what I had to get to see this thing through.
