My first trip report. Nothing too adventurous - just a quick overnighter with three buddies. We scaled a nearby 1,200 peak here on the Oregon coast following logging roads and game trails to a poacher's hut. We arrived a little late so I didn't get any photos of my hammock set up.
My 3 buddies slept in the shelter and I slept in my hammock nearby. There is alot of mountain lion sign in that area so I picked trees pretty close to the group. The night went well. I slept more than I didn't. Loud snores from the shelter confirmed my decision to sleep in my hammock.
Somewhere in the night it started raining and didnt stop till morning. I had set my tarp at little too tall and some drops did manage to reach the hammock although I stayed dry. I have a Tadpole on order which should help me keep dry here in the Pacific Northwet.
This will probably be my last outing with a pad as I have my New River underquilt ordered. My DIY top quilt performed well and kept me warm all night as the temps dipped into the low 40s.
Never did see the mountain lion (which was fine by me) but we had a great time in the woods. Here are some pics. I am the guy on the left.
