Not sure why an established company with Bear Grylls as a spokesman needs a kickstarter campaign to introduce a new product, but this rain collecting tarp is an interesting idea.

Hennessy has been doing this for years. When I first saw it I thought: Genius!
Upon reflection, I started thinking about all the things my tarps keep from falling in my hammock; specifically squirrel waste. Just about 99% sure I don't want to drink water that has been squirrel-poop filtered...thank you very much.
Trust nobody!
Its a solution in search of a problem. If you're hiking and hoping for it to rain to get your water, you might be doing something wrong.
EDIT TO ADD:
Not to slam Kammock, they're good people, but;
In the case of Bear Grylls, isn't this an illustration of "How Far The Mighty Have Fallen" if he's doing endorsements for Kickstarter projects?

Don't get me wrong. If the price point, quality, and all other things includig delivery are equal to all other choices available, then this feature is a bonus----its just not something I'd put at or even near the top of my list.
A string hanging off the tarp will do the same thing. Saw the concept of bottles on corners first on Hennessy site as well.

Because anytime you can take a chance with someone elses money it is much easier than using your own. Particularly if it fails.
The syntactical nature of reality, the real secret of magic, is that the world is made of words. And if you know the words that the world is made of, you can make of it whatever you wish.

Neat concept and good execution I think. However, any poorly pitched tarp will retain water! I like the bottle attachment, set it and forget it.
But with some creativity you can collect water from any tarp. In fact I used my Kelty Noah 12 to fill my dogs water bowl.
The fabric is interesting, otherwise it is heavy (25oz), expensive ($175 for US customers) and the cat cuts seem a bit extreme to me.
Also, if it is raining and you can't get water you don't need a fancy tarp, pee in a snakeskin then drink it... everyone knows that, right?
I agree i saw it on hennessy site first...and did not like the idea of animal poop in my water so never tried it even with the good filters i have. You could start using it after it has refined a bit and washed the tarp i guess...
