Guy line tensioners: which end goes where?

My new WL Tadpole should be here tomorrow and my Zing-it, Dutch tarp Flyz are also on their way. So excited!

I've been reading about needing shock cord tensioners on guy lines for silnylon tarps, but I haven't found which end to put them on. Do I put the shock cord towards the tarp tieouts, towards the stake end or anywhere in between b/c it doesn't really matter? I don't plan on being in high wind situations (so far, only backyard hanging), so I'm planning on just making a loop of shock cord to attach my guy lines to. I don't think I'll need the guy line as backup along the shock cord length (unless you convince me otherwise )

Does it matter where along the guy line I put the shock cord? Thanks in advance!

The other kids will point and laugh if you........

Actually NO, they will not. Put 'em where you think it makes sense. If you don't like 'em there, move them somewhere else. Heck, I change my ridgeline and guyline layouts so much that I forget how to set up the tarp at times!

Currently have tensioners at stake end with adjusters at tarp edge.

I personally put mine at the tarp edge. These are my favorite two solutions:

That's how I do it. Shockcord loop on the tarp tie out, prussik loop on the guyline attached to that, fixed loop to the stake.

I suppose if the shockcord broke it could cause problems? I've had stakes pull out of soft ground with no issues, they usually end up not far from where they pulled out. I don't doubt the potential is there to cause damage or injuries.

Guy line tensioners: which end goes where?

Sounds good! My Zing-it just arrived, but still waiting for the tarp and Flyz! Thanks everyone! Good thing I have shock cord left over from another project.

Guy line tensioners: which end goes where?

One more vote for at the tarp.

Someone brought up a very good point a few years back that if your stakes get buried in snow, tensioners aren't going to do their job.

I've had my sil tarps out in some pretty heavy snow with the tensioners at the tarp and they always keep things nice and snug.
