Smile Weekend in Algonquin Park, Ontario

Did a 3-day solo canoe trip in the park.

Wicked thunderstorm, lightning and deluge first afternoon at campsite. Cloudburst tarp held firm under high winds with every tie-out tied out. That night more rain.

Next day on to another lake. More torrential rain. That night another deluge.

Last morning I slipped and fell into the lake...didn't matter--I was already wet. Camera got immersed and died, along with cellphone. Got windbound and had to wait out most of the day. Wind died at dinner time and I got home before midnight.

Still better than the best day at the office, as they say!

Beautiful area to hang, lucky you.

Glad to hear you were geared up for the rain.

I carry a dry sack for my phone camera, of course twice I've forgotten to put it in there and yep, went swimming lol.

It's all good, outdoors and above ground, gotta love it.

I'd ask to see more pics, but...

    Thanks for sharing.

Too bad about your electronics. Happy to hear the hammock gear stood up. Where in the park were you?

Went to Tom Thomson from Canoe Lake. Then over to Burnt Island via Littledoe ( didn't go up to Sunbeam) and finally back to Canoe via Joe.

Luckily I have the world's cheapest phone from 7-11, and i was in the market for a new camera, so no problems. I had a great time. Got stories to tell without experiencing any true adversity.
