Dont know if it's the best, but hang foods and odorous items, toss pocket items in hammock pouch, put backpack on contractor bag beneath my hammock and tarp.

I like to keep things off the ground if possible. Is there any other waterproof bag I can use? Contractor bags will rip letting in water/spiders/tics.

I really have little in my pack after setting up so I hang my from my hammock ridgeline, behind my head.
Others hang it from a tree with a waterproof cover of some kind.
Or on the ground like was mentioned above.

Mainly I just put on the ground, but some time hang it. Depends mainly on my location and the weather.

you can get or make a gear sling to go under the hammock. pros is it keeps your gear within reach (mostly) while in the hammock, can help keep UQs clean if raining, can provide a *slight* wind block etc. just hang it off your normal hammocks suspension.

for me tho, i usually either put my bag in my camp chair (since i usually have one of some sort, be it large or tiny) or biner it to the suspension at one end or the other since its usually well under the tarp. with that method, you do have to be a little careful in foul weather that your tarp covers enough that you dont get water blown in on your gear, and that you have a drip line well before your bag.

    and off ya go

I carry a lashing strap and carabiner to hang my backpack off a tree. Or it stays on the ground under my hammock but I have been mostly hanging it lately.

I like to hang my Pack... Usually just use a binger to clip it to the tree strap of the hammock.

    Re: Hammock camping help

ENO makes a miniature hammock for storing your gear off the ground. I used it last week and thought it was great. I came home and made another. It measures about 4x4.
