Hello guys! Been using net hammocks made by my granny since I was small. Just recently purchased a hammock and tarp set made locally here.Interested in learning more on how you guys rig your hammocks and reducing the weight of my set up.

Hello and welcome from Vancouver Canada!

Hi! I was in Manila for about six weeks in 1982 and wish I could have stayed longer. It is a beautiful country, you're lucky to be there.
I was born in Venezuela, and hammocks are also part of the traditional culture. So glad that you could find a locally-made hammock. One of the first things you need to do is rig it with a more light-weight rope, since traditional hammocks usually use manila rope (any idea where the name comes from?). A lot of people use a combination of tree straps / whoopie slings / toggle, to achieve a simple, light-weight suspension. Lots of information about that in this forum. Enjoy your hammocking!
