Anyone else think it's noisy in the woods?

My house is extremely quite like a cave. My first hang, and I have to admit I have not slept in the woods in awhile, cabins and trailers but no tents or hammocks...well my first hang I felt like I was trying to sleep next to an interstate, cricket frogs, bull frogs, coyotes yelping, owls hooting, turkeys and on, it was beautiful but wow was it noisy.

HAHA! There's a lot going on out there! Go out in winter, it's dead silent.

I agree about the woods... it takes me a night to get somewhat accustomed to it.

Outside my house is just as bad. I slept in the garage one night testing things out (cue the eyeroll from my wife)... anyway, all sorts of strange sounds throughout the night.

When it's too quiet it bothers me. I like hearing a breeze (up to a point) or a creek running. Best of all is listening to the rain on my tarp, Puts me right to sleep.

The silence is deafening I tell ya! The first couple of times I hung the hammock was during the day and even then everything was louder: birds, squirrels, the wind, people going by on bicycles. Been some time since I have done an overnight outdoors and I have a feeling it will be more listening that sleeping.

Wait til the deer start stomping and snorting in the middle of the night wondering where the alien is, not to mention having something run underneath your hammock. I had a recurring nightmare about something poking me from underneath until I finally unspooked myself after a number of nights out. Alot of us have gaps in sleeping out and it takes awhile to get used to it again.

I usually bring ear plus for the first couple of nights at the beginning of hang season. Or should I say I wear cause I bring them always. Never now when you might set up next to someone who snores. They usually fall out during the night. After a couple of nights out I get used to the sounds of the woods and I'm fine.

I slept by a lake last weekend and it was extremely loud. There where frogs, and I think beavers slapping their tails all night and something big walking around camp. The worst part was at 5am there was freight train sound in the distance that was growing louder and louder until it hit. It was a freak storm with pounding rain and 45-60mph winds.
It was crazy and I hope I never hear that sound again while I am out in the woods.
