First night in my new DH TB 1.8 poly

Papasmurf finished my new thunderbird in time for me to take it to the NEHHA this weekend. I had been deliberating between his 2.3 poly blend and the lighter nylon taffeta. Then I get an email from PS that he found a 1.8 oz poly taffeta material. I told him that was exactly what I was hoping for, a polyester fabric and less weight than the 2.3 oz. the hammock is awesome with a 1.0 nylon TC. The lay is flat with just enough stretch for me at 170 lbs. super comfortable great looking hammock! I slept like a baby through the torrential rains last night..

Thank you PapaSmurf for a great hammock, and for also going the extra mile with all my emails and finding the perfect balance of weight and comfort for me.

Great to hear! These hammocks, and BIAS, are a couple that I have not yet been able to try out yet.

How are these Papa Smurf hammocks as far as the infamous non-bridge, center ridge, calf pressure issues?

i have an 11' Roaming gnome that is 64" wide (1.6 oz nylon) and if I hang the feet slightly above my head I have no ridge pressure (at least compared to my 10' WBBB) I can feel a little ridge pressure if I position myself just right with head and feet level but if I move my butt just a little it goes away there too. I feel no ridge pressure at all with the bugnet stowed...all the 11' hammocks I have tried have given me no ridge pressure. They are the ones Lymphocytosis used to make and are nice light gathered end hammocks.

    I'm 5'9" and 160# I'm debating length. Is that in a 10 footer?
Also why go poly over nylon? I think I might do a heavier wieght maybe 1.8 SL just for durability sake. But I'm not sure about fabrics. Do you stick to poly as much as nylon in the summer?
    Directionally challenged...comicly so.

Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.

Yes I got a 10 footer. From what I've read the longer the hammock the less potential for calf ridge, but I am fine at 10'. Also you have a weight penalty for the extra length of an 11' hammock. I went with poly because I like several of the properties of poly over nylon, mostly less stretch, and nice fabric feel. I sacrifice some weight for this. Here is a link to PapaSmurf's fabric comparison.

I just hung my 1.8oz Poly Taffeta test hammock back up in the workshop. It felt great for the half dozen nights I used it earlier so I think I'll give this one a few more nights.
    I'm 5'7" & 265lbs.
