    Smile Inside hang project

Finished hanging my hammock in my room. Used 1200 lb. anchor rings, and #12x 2 1/2" Spax construction screws. Mounted on the walls' studs. To determine how high to mount the anchor rings, I used the hammock calculator at http://theultimatehang.com/hammock-hang-calculator/. Have slept on it three nights. Often sit on it, playing my ukelele... Life is bliss. I copied the setup from a forum post by SouthCarolinaMike. Thanks Mike!

He, he! This location is better, and the first night I did put the mattress underneath... just in case!

I used the same buckles, but went with longer lag bolts for my kids' rooms. I did not try sitting on it myself, being a bigger guy.

They worked great, and recommend for anyone else.

Yes, SouthCarolinaMike used 14x spax screws while I used only 12x. (See his post at https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=73188.)

I weight 150 pounds so I feel safe with the 12x.

Hey there, I was just wondering why you used these screws in particular. Are they stronger for some reason than screws you would buy in a box or out of a bin?

I use Spax as well. It's been a few years but if memory serves me right, I was able to find load ratings for the Spax but not for other screws. They seem well designed.

I have the same hardware and basic setup in my room HAHA I hang in it almost every night to sleep in. The mattress is just sorta of a platform to hold stuff now =x

the only difference is I used 2 1/4" lag bolts instead of those spax screws

I would be curious to know if someone in the 300lb range has done this, and not fallen.

I have with the pad eyes from Bosuns Supplies and 3" #12 stainless wood screws, screwed into exterior 2"X6" walls. I trust the quality of the build of my house though.
