You could stick a 4x4 post in the ground. That would eliminate the need to use your car.
That looks like a Honda Element. I also have one...where did you attach the hammock?
Nice! Really like the lawn and fresh cut grass.
This picture perfectly illustrates how we hammockers have gone off the deep end Nice ingenuity. I also only have one tree in my yard and I'm thinking of adding a post so I can mess around with my gear more often.
A post would really make the front yard look odd. Miguel, in the hatchback, at the top, there should be a sliding plastic panel on each side, slide them back and there are metal eyes. I just slide the tree strap through and attach the whoopie.
Here is an idea for you.
Take up that light pole out by the street and relocate and replace it with a 4X4 or stronger metal pole with a light fixture on top. Weld or screw in a hook for the other end of your Hammock..
Then sit back and watch the neighbor try and hang from their flimsy light pole...
How did you get the hatch to stay up? I don't think I can lock the hatch up on my minivan. I thought about doing something like this when I pulled into a tent camping area short on trees, but I considered using the luggage rack. I ended up not attempting.
My hatch stays up automatically.
Those are the attachment points for child car seat straps. Personally I question their strength but then again....you are hanging from one of them.
I'm considering running my strap through them, looping the strap around a stopper and then closing the hatch. I would think that would be pretty bomber. If the eye failed the stopper would prevent total failure assuming the hatch would hold.
I'm going camping this weekend to a spot that's not great for hanging. I may just give it a try. (With Turtledog as backup )
