    Darien ASYM lay question

I was looking at Darien photos on Dream-Hammocks website and noticed that all the photos showed the person laying diagonal with their feet towards the zipper side. (like if you put your head in the footbox of a blackbird.) So can you lay with your head closer to the zipper side simialr to a blackbird?

I have the Darien UL and I lay with my head next to the zipper.

I'd check with PapaSmurf, who said in a recent post about the Darien UL, "I've had people bust zippers by laying left in a right lay hammock and forcing the zippers."

That sounds like what you're suggesting; laying left in a right lay hammock.

SilvrSurfr is right about the damage that can occur when laying the wrong way (left lay vs right lay). You can indeed lay with your head on the zipper side or non-zipper side just by switching ends of the hammock. The net is cut identical on each side, so it really doesn't matter. Just stay either right lay or left lay depending on how your hammock is built and you're good to go.

All Dream Hammocks are built right lay by default (head left, feet right). I can easily build a left lay on request by simply flipping the net over while I'm putting it together.

To clarify, in a right lay hammock the zipper should be on my left (head side), correct?

The zipper can be either side you find it most convenient by switching ends.
In a right lay hammock, the edge of the hammock should be close to your left shoulder.

You won't regret placing that order Dangerous, PapaSmurf makes an awesome hammock. I have a couple already and he is currently working on my Darien #432, right now. Can't wait to get it...Bush
