    Tulle for bug net?

Girlfriend is handy with a sewing machine, and I need a bug net for my 2nd set up, so I was going to ask her to stitch me something up.

Can tulle usable for a bug net? I know it'll be readily available in the local fabric shop.

I have made one from tulle from Joanns Fabrics. It is tougher than it looks. It might not stop the tiniest no-see-um's out there though if that is a problem in your area. Many folks have used tulle.

Tulle is all i have used. The Camo Tulle that is. The camo is tough stuff. I have snagged it on a holly bush and it didn't tear. But now i will say that the black mesh is terrible. They were out of the camo so i bought that. It ripped a 2 foot hole when i was trying to center it on my ridgeline. It was $1.99/yd. So back to the $4.99/yd camo i go. And i will also be trying mesh curtains next.
    It's a hammock thing, you won't understand!

The wife no longer kicks me out of bed after she saw a hammock hanging in the dog house.

Good to know. I will definitely have to go and see the material for myself in person. Check the quality and what not.

If it sucks I can always get no-see-em from one of the many DIY supply places.

Tulle has the good/bad news of being a "structural" fabric. That means it is rather stiff and holds its shape reasonbly well. It is used for bridal veils and other decorative purposes. The good news is it does not tend to get all saggy and sloppy. The bad news is that it can be harder to work with. Tulle does come in a variety of weights which will affect its durability. It can be used... but it does require some trade offs.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

The only bug net I've made is tulle, and that was last season... kinda surprised but it seems to hold up quite well. No complaints here!

    Bug net

I used what Wally World calls a Marjorie Voille Window Scarf.
Made a Fronkey bug net out of the large one. Worked perfectly for my son. No bugs for 5 days. Held up to a large 12 year old boy. He loved it. Thought it would not be as airy as tulle but he said he wasn't hot at all.
