Hmmm...Avon, CO.

A short road-trip might be in order. I'm skeptical of the venting concept with that thing, but a permanently insulated hammock wouldn't be a bad thing out here. I don't think I've had more than 6 nights in over 5 years of hiking out here where I didn't need a quilt of some kind below me.

Only problem is, Avon is right down the road from Vail. Vail has lots of really expensive shops. Genuine Draft likes to shop. Could be a problem.

I had been playing around with an idea for an insulated hammock also. The idea of adding adjustment straps is new to me, but solves a lot of problems with hammock body stretch, and extends the usable temp range upward.

Looks like longitudinal tubes, not "lateral", but I've made a number of different variations on this layout. I still use one of my early ones as my winter hammock. I'm glad to see others working on insulated hammocks.

Your ideas are original with you, even if others are thinking along similar lines. Keep thinking! Your version might be better.

Interesting concept. Curious about others thoughts on the insulation vs. the temp rating. The 40 degree model has 5.5 ounces of down. That seems someone light to match those stated temp ratings. For comparison: The Hammock Gear Incubator (full length UQ) has 7 oz of down.

In theory, the down being integrated into the hammock design should be more efficient than a standard quilt that attaches to the hammock. The insulation has no choice but to conform to your body...theoretically.

Nice idea, and I want to see more.... Definitely a winter hammock for SC... Even though we hung in 22* in February.
