Put a diaper in your hammock???

These things absorb water like crazy. Also, onced absorbed, the water is locked behind a layer of material that prevents the release to contacting surfaces, namely skin, hammock fabric. Me and the girls are going to hang out in the yard with the new gear this weekend. I'm going to hang one inside the hammock from one of the ends. We're supposed to be getting a front to drop us into the twenties overnight. Not sure how to go about comparing apples to apples but maybe two nights, 1 with and 1 without will do the trick. I'll have to disassemble it a bit...of course...so that it doesn't look like a diaper. Can't be haulin' around in the woods and let the scouts spot me with a diaper. I'd never hear the end of that.

    Good idea!

One of those super absorbent, packable camp towels that you can wring dry, would do the same job without disassembling. They would also be reusable.

The other problem is they are VERY heavy when full, gotta pack those buggers out! I know you are doing a yard hang but if you want to take the idea to the woods, I wouldn't want the weight!

At the risk of being serious in a diaper thread, do they really absorb water vapor? I don't have much experience with them.

Nope... I ain't dragging no diapers around either. if you really want to absord moisture there are products made to do just that. You put them in closets and crawlspaces which are prone to the rising damp. Most of them can be reused by heating them to return them to their original state.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    wait a minute...
If one were hiking with a child wearing a diaper, could it now be a multi use item?
(just not a repeated use item!)
