    mil bug net

    I contacted my supply guy to see if they had any bug nets laying around and he said sure come by to pick some up. This is what i got,

    The footprint is 86" you think it is worth trying to mod? I'm not worried about size/weight (within reason) it'll be used for car/family camping.
    I'm thinking cutting out the botton and making it deeper or flipping it over and use it as the bottom.

    Any ideas... should i just keep it as is and make a different design?

    Re: mil bug net

    Not for that price, hopefully!! I got a military bug net that is supposed to be suspended over a cot. I had to cut off lots of material and it took quite a bit of time. However, it turned out to be exactly what I needed. It would have been MUCH easier if I had just started with plain mesh material and made it Fronkey style. I did make mine that style, but it was much harder working with that huge piece of material that was not square.

    Free is always a good price. What are the actual dimensions of the mesh material?

    W=90"x 33" at head / 23" at foot
    H= 33"at head/ 25"foot

    the 90" is what is getting me??? it's probably too short. the only thing i can think of is to use it upside down as the bottom half and sew a top to it.
    Probably not woth the work!

    anyone know of a ground dweller that would like to trade??

    I think that's a good idea. Even if you had two to sew together, I wouldn't be enough to make a bugnet for a hammock.

    So I took the rings off the outer perimeter and cut out the bottom out. My plan is to flip it over and sew the top half with an approximate 36" section \ / working up to the ridgeline and using it as the bottom half instead of the bungee method. Still on the fence about keeping the ring as a spreader, don't know if it'll be needed. The nice thing it it already has zippers on both sides.

    If you can, post some pics of it. It would be cool to see how it turns out.

    I'll post pics once i start sewing, I'm holding myself back so I don't rush it. I'm debating on ordering the noseeum or using the tulle/curtain.
